Grade 7 Language Arts (7-4 and 7-7):

Students will be starting a Persuasive Unit later this week (both a reading and a writing unit).

*Students were given an their second Independent Novel Study assignment to work on.  Again, it will be worked on both at home and in class.  (They are given 1 period to work on it, each 6-day cycle)  Students are expected to read a novel they have chosen, and complete the required activities for that novel.  The due date for this assignment is Monday, March 12, 2018.

Grade 7 Social Studies (7-3):

Students have finished chapter 5 (Life in British North America), and will have a test on this chapter on Friday, January 12th.  Students were given a review, and we will go over the answers to the review tomorrow in class.

Grade 8 Social Studies (8-1 and 8-3):

Students have almost finished presenting their 10 Minute Talk assignments. We will be starting chapter 8 in the text, when these presentations are complete (later this week).

Grade 7 Language Arts (7-4 and 7-7):

Independent Novel Study #1 is now due.

*Students will be given the second Independent Novel Study assignment later this week.  They will work on this, both at home and in class.( They are given 1 period to work on it, each 6-day cycle)  Students are expected to read a novel they have chosen, and complete the required activities for that novel.

Students are currently working on a movie assignment for “Remember the Titans”.  After they have watched the movie, they will complete the assignment.

Grade 7 Social Studies (7-3):

Students are currently working on chapter 5 (Life in British North America).

Grade 8 Social Studies (8-1 and 8-3):

The chapter 7 test will be written on:

8-3 ~ Thursday, Dec 7th

8-1~ Friday, Dec 8th

Students will begin presenting their 10 Minute Talk assignments on Tuesday, Dec 12 (Both classes)

Grade 7 Language Arts (7-4 and 7-7):

Students have been working on preparing for 2 minute oral presentations (on any topic they want).  They have had several classes to prepare for this by writing out their presentation, timing it, writing index cards, and practicing in small groups.  Students will begin presenting on:

7-4 – Wednesday, November 22nd

7-7 – Thursday, November 23rd

Students are currently working on chapter 3 (Economic Security).

Grade 8 Social Studies (8-1 and 8-3):

Students are currently working on a timeline assignment for chapter 7.  This will be due on Monday, November 27th.

*Students were given a “10 Minute Talk” assignment to be working on at home and a little bit in class.  This will be due the beginning of December.  Students will choose, and present a topic that relates to Canada.  The presentations should be 10 minutes in length.

Grade 7 Language Arts (7-4 and 7-7):

Students have been working on an A-Z Autobiography.

The due date for 7-4 is Thursday, November 9th.

The due date for 7-7 is Tuesday, November 14th.

*Students were given an Independent Novel Study assignment to work on, both at home and in class.  (They will be given half a period to work on it, each 6-day cycle)  Students are expected to read a novel they have chosen, and complete the required activities for that novel.  The due date for this assignment is Monday, December 4th.

Grade 7 Social Studies (7-3):

Students are currently working on Remembrance Day posters, and will be starting chapter 3 (Economic Security) this week.

Grade 8 Social Studies (8-1 and 8-3):

Students are currently working on Remembrance Day posters, and will be returning to chapter 7 when these are completed.

Grade 7 Social Studies (7-3):

We have almost finished chapter 2, so the chapter 2 test will be on Monday, October 30th.  Students will get a review to complete and we will go over the answers to the review this week.

Grade 7 Language Arts (7-4 and 7-7):

Students have been working on their sentence fluency and paragraph structure by completing an A-Z Autobiography.  Students are almost done of their rough copies and we will be editing them and completing their good copies next week.

Grade 7 Social Studies (7-3):

Students are currently learning about Economic Empowerment.  We have been reading from the textbook (ch.2) and completing some activities.  There will be a test at the end of this chapter, and that date will be determined when we are closer to finishing the chapter.

Grade 8 Social Studies (8-1 and 8-3):

Students have completed chapter 3 and are working on their chapter 3 final assignment, which is to research a Canadian city.  They will have at least 2 classes with the chromebooks to complete this assignment, and a 3rd class if needed.

Grade 7 Social Studies (7-3):

Students were given their last class to work on their Empowerment posters.  Many students finished them and handed them in.  For those who did not finish, they are due: Tuesday, October 10th.
